Grammy and Pappy in town to celebrate...Family Vacations
We capped off a big month of travel with our annunal fishing and camping trip in the Yellowstone area.First stop was the South Fork of the Snake River, where we spent 3 days floating from Palisades Dam to the bridge (13 miles).
Flows were at 13,000cfs and the weather was perfect. Fishing was great, but the catching was prettty marginal...no surface activity.
Next, we met Matt and the girls on the Henry's Fork of the Snake. Flows were 1300cfs and the water was a little tinted.
We floated Harrimans, the Box Canyon, and screwed around on Island Park for 4 days. Lots of good times, but not a lot of catching.
Matt and the girls returned to Colorado, and we continiued North into Montana...setting up a base on the fabled Madison River.
Once again, the floating, camping and scenery was spectatular, but the catching was so so.
For the final leg of our trip, we drove across Yellowstone to the Cody side. We setup camp by Gibbs Bridge on the North Fork of the Shoshone.
Flows were at around 1000cfs and dropping fast. The tribs are still high, and the lake fish were just starting to think about returning to the lake.
Perfect conditions!
We spent 3 days floating the N. Fork, and did a lot of catching
The drive home was split up by staying in Alcova WY on the N.Platte, which is fishing/catching great.
